With an eye on growing number of millionaires in the country, Malaysia is to host its first fair promoting lifestyle and luxury tourism, travel and experiences.

Unlike most tourism fairs, the Lifestyle and Luxury Tourism Fair, 2011 (LuxtoFair ‘11) will cater specially to elite and affluent travellers and, therefore, visitors can expect to see high-end tourism products and services on offer in good-value deals.

The fair will showcase much sought-after destinations, premier cruises, luxury accommodations, spas and health retreats and exclusive holiday packages, among others.

“This is the first time a fair like this is being organised and we hope to attract at least 8,000 visitors,” said LuxtoFair ‘11 organising chairman and National Tourism Council Malaysia (NTCM) President, Mr Shamsul Falak Abdul Kadir.

He said that Asia had emerged as a luxury travel powerhouse and there will be a significant growth in luxury travel within the Asia-Pacific region. There is a need to promote the luxury tourism industry here in order to help it expand.

There will be a strong emphasis on destinations in Malaysia and other countries in the region, including Thailand and Indonesia at the fair, which is scheduled to be held from May 20-22.

The fair will also see tourism speaker sessions, consumer contests, promotional activities and live performances.
