The Manipal Institute of Management (MIM) conducted a workshop on ‘Gaining strategic leadership in healthcare’ at Manipal recently.

A press release by the institute said here that over 150 delegates from different parts of the country representing medical institutions, hospitals and management institutes attended the workshop.

The importance and the need of cost-effectiveness in healthcare, role of information technology in healthcare service delivery, and marketing of healthcare services were discussed at the workshop.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr Ruchi Das, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcursor Consulting Group, said that healthcare delivery should be equitable in the country.

Information technology would play a pivotal role in achieving this in a diverse country such as India, Dr Das said.

Mr Ganesh Selvaraj, Head (Human Resources), Manipal Health Enterprises, emphasised the need to reorient the approach of the healthcare industry.

Stating that the healthcare sector has evolved into a customer-driven industry, he highlighted challenges that are encountered while operating in the healthcare industry.

Dr Sreenivasan Narayana, Senior General Manager (Pricing and Product Development), Nova Medical Centre Pvt Ltd; and Mr Aditya Codaty, Head (Innovation and R&D), United Health Group India, were the other resource persons of the workshop.

Prof Ramakrishna Chadaga, Director of Manipal Institute of Management, was present on the occasion, the release added.
