Neerja Mathur, a former Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, has taken charge as Member of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for Goa and Union Territories.
Mathur was Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority from November 2013 to December 2014. She was also a Member (Grid Operation & Distribution) and held other senior positions in the organisation.
JERC is the electricity regulatory body for all Union Territories except Delhi and was established by the Government of India under the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.
Subsequently, the State of Goa also joined the above Joint Commission. The commission consists of a chairperson and another member.
