National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC) has developed a mobile app 'E Dhaga' for the benefit of handloom weavers.
NHDC, in a statement, said the app is useful for handloom weavers to transact business anytime, anywhere and they can send their indents and payments online through this app. The weavers can also access the status of the shipment of the despatched material, thereby, enhancing transparency.
Minister of Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani, who launched the app, observed that it seeks to address the concerns of individual weavers relating to the availability of raw material, delays in supplies and ensuring stocks in depots.
Rashmi Verma, Secretary, Textiles, emphasised on the need to engage weavers to use the app, which would be a handy tool in the hands of the weavers and society to transact business with NHDC.
The 'E Dhaga' app is available in Hindi, English and Telugu, and will also be available in other languages such as Bengali, Odiya , Assamese, Kannada, Tamil and Urdu by mid-January.
Sarvepalli Srinivas, Managing Director, NHDC, said: "To give a boost to the Government’s Digital India initiative, NHDC will accept all payments through real time gross settlement (RTGS)/ national electronic funds transfer (NEFT) or the digital mode from December 19 onwards and will place the latest three months’ yarn procurement of societies from NHDC in the public domain."
