Berhampur tehsil in Ganjam district of Odisha has become the first tehsil in the state to achieve full automation and will provide services, including different computerised certificates to the people, official sources said today.

Full-fledged computerisation in the tehsil was launched under the e-District project on a pilot basis, the sources said.

The project will be rolled out in all other tehsils in the district in next two months, they said.

Aimed at quick delivery of the services and ensuring transparency, the online project is implemented in the district under the Central government’s National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).

Ganjam is among the 18 districts across the country and second in Odisha selected for the e-District project on pilot basis. Mayurbhanj is other district in the state selected for this project, they said.

The services to be provided under the scheme include issuances of various certificates, social security schemes like different pensions, public grievances, right to information (RTI), public distribution system (PDS) and some other services.

In the first phase, certificates like caste, residence, solvency, income and legal heir would be processed online, according to Ganjam district Collector Mr Krishan Kumar.

Other services including social security schemes like different pensions, PDS, RTI and revenue court cases would be implemented in the phased manner, he said.
