The Nitish Kumar Government has given its nod to split the Bihar State Electricity Board into five separate entities.
A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by the Bihar Chief Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, here last evening.
Now, there will be one holding company — Bihar State Power Company — under which four other entities will be set up. While one entity, Bihar State Power Generation Company, is for generation, Bihar State Power Transmission Company is for transmission. Two distribution companies entrusted with the task of supplying energy to North and South Bihar, respectively, will also be established.
“The services of BSEB officers and employees will continue in the new companies and there will be no dilution in their service conditions,” official sources said.
