The State government may explore laws against bandhs, the Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, said at Writers' Buildings on Friday. She however, did not elaborate on her statement.
“If necessary we will explore ways or look for laws for maintaining normalcy,” Ms Banerjee said.
According to her, “some people” were disrupting normal life just to derive political benefits in north Bengal and the State government was opposed to such bandhs.
Deprecating the dawn-to-dusk bandh call in different areas of North Bengal by the tea workers' unions demanding a hike in wages, Ms Banerjee said that normal life should not be disrupted.
