The Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Mr Anoop Jacob, has said that strong and effective steps would be taken to ensure speedier movement of foodgrains for public distribution.
The Minister had convened a meeting of senior officials of Food Corporation of India, Department of Civil Supplies and representatives of ration wholesaler associations. The meeting discussed the issues related to distribution of rationed commodities in the State.
The Minister promised that the subsidy on grains being lifted would be paid on the 20th of the preceding month. On their part, the ration wholesalers agreed to lift the grains before the 23rd of every month, allowing them time to space out the operation.
