The Government maybe considering some relief package for the garment industry, according to sources in the industry although there is no clarity on what it could be. This comes after the apparel industry protested against the 10 per cent excise duty on branded garments, which was announced in the Union Budget last month.
“We have had feelers from the Government that something is being considered for the garment industry. But what it is, we will have to wait for the Finance Minister to make a statement when the Budget is passed in Parliament later this month,” said the industry source.
