The Regional Passport Office, Bangalore, has announced that with effect from July 2 it would change the release schedule of passport appointments (as was done before March 2012).
In a release, Dr K. J. Srinivasa, Regional Passport Officer, said release of appointments would be one-and-a half-days (36 hours) ahead of the scheduled appointment date so as to increase the appointment window availability and to give applicants more time to apply for passport services.
“This change has been effected due to the introduction of the Passport Seva Project since May 2010 in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Service (TCS); we have been providing passport services to applicants in Karnataka,” he said.
Every day about 2,715 appointments are released at 6 pm on the Web site, www.passportindia.gov.in — 2,395 normal plus 320 tatkal appointments spread across four passport seva kendras (PSKs) located in Bangalore, Mangalore and Hubli.
“Now, with these changes in place, online tatkal appointments will not be released. However, applicants desirous of tatkal processing would be required to book appointments under normal registration,” said Dr Srinivasa.
