The Chairman and Members of the 15th Finance Commission on Thursday called on the President Ram Nath Kovind and apprised him of the progress made in the work of the Commission so far.
It may be recalled that the Finance Commission was constituted by the government on November 27 last year under the chairmanship of NK Singh.
The members of the Finance Commission are Shaktikanta Das, Anoop Singh, Ashok Lahiri and Ramesh Chand.
The recommendations of the Commission would cover the five-year period commencing April 1, 2020 to 2025 and have been asked to make the recommendations available by October 30, 2019.
Intensive talks
Since the constitution of the Commission, it has already undertaken intensive consultations with stakeholders, regional interactions and drawn-up tentative programme of visiting the various States.
The first visit of the Commission would commence from Arunachal Pradesh in April followed by Jammu and Kashmir, an official release said.
