The year-long Swarnim Jayanti celebrations to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Year of the foundation of Gujarat will conclude at Sardar Patel Stadium here on Sunday in what is seen as an extravaganza for a grand finale.
This month, the mood of the concluding ceremony had been set by Chief Minister Narendra Modi through a series of multi-location State-level functions organised from April 15 at five places across Gujarat.
Tomorrow, the State Government is organizing a meeting of Non-Resident Gujaratis (NRGs) on ‘Global Gujarat' at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar in which about 3,000 NRGs are expected to participate under the auspices of the State NRG Foundation.
‘Gaurav Diwas'
The Foundation had been set up to establish close ties between the State and its natives living outside Gujarat and involve them in the State's progress. It has launched various initiatives such as issuance of a Gujarat Card, Vatan Seva Project and establishment of NRG centres for the purpose, said Mr Ravi Saxena, Chairman and Additional Chief Secretary, here today.
The grand finale, to be held on May 1, the State's foundation day, will be celebrated as ‘Gaurav Diwas' through a variety entertainment programme. The cultural programme will be repeated at the same venue on May 2 as well.
