Mr K.N. Srivastava will be the new Civil Aviation Secretary. An officer from the 1978 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Mr Srivastava will take over when the current Secretary, Mr S.N.A Zaidi, retires on July 31. This will be the second innings of Mr Srivastava in the Ministry. From October 2006 to January 2010, he was a Joint Secretary in the Ministry, looking after issues relating to development of airports. It was during his tenure that initial work started on development of an airport at Navi Mumbai. A graduate in physics, Mr Srivastava has also held senior positions in the Ministry of Culture and External Affairs. He moves from the Ministry of External Affairs, where he is currently an Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor.
