Mee Seva, the electronically delivered citizen services, will soon get a thorough makeover. The basket of services will go up to 100 from the present 31 by the year end. Launched in November 2011 as a pilot in Chittoor district with just 11 services, the service has caught the imagination of people with daily transactions crossing the 50,000 mark.

Expanded now to 17 districts, the service accepts applications from people for certified copies from various Government departments such as Revenue, Registration and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, held a review meeting and asked officials to quickly resolve all queries. “Identify the causes for delay, identify the problem and solve it,” he told officials.

Asking them to take measures to expand services, he said the number of transactions a day would go up to one lakh. This would result in savings of Rs 3,000 crore to the people.

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to prepare and implement the National Optical Fibre Network plan. This initiative is aimed at connecting the gram panchayats with high bandwidth.
