The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has started sending SMS and email alerts to remind central government departments about pending corruption cases in order to timely dispose of such cases, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha, he said the government has taken several steps for quick disposal of pending cases. “In respect of pending disciplinary cases in CVC, the Commission has taken up with the individual Chief Vigilance Officers (CVO) of the ministries, departments or organisations concerned on the need for expeditious finalisation of disciplinary proceedings. “CVC is also monitoring the pendency of disciplinary cases by sending alerts through SMSs and email to the concerned CVOs,” he said.
Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public grievances and Pensions, said a total of 589 cases were pending for examination in CVC as on January 31, 2016.
