The Southern Region of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has termed the Budget proposals for 2011-12 as a bold pragmatic step in enabling the Indian exporting community to maintain and even accelerate the buoyancy of 2010-11.
In a press release here on Monday, Mr Walter D'Souza, Chairman of FIEO (Southern Region), said that the Finance Ministry has acceded to the long-pending plea from the exporters to streamline the procedure for refund of service tax on exports. This is keeping with the norms for reduction of transaction costs of international trade.
Welcoming the increase in interest subvention to 3 per cent for farmers, he said it is equally important to have a positive re-look at the grant of interest subvention for exports for some time until a review is made after interactions with captains of export-oriented industries.
The proposal to set up 50 mega food parks will further galvanise the capacity of the farmers in ensuring better realisation for their produce and will boost agro-exports, he added.
