The second annual nationwide search to identify and recognise school students who have made meaningful contributions to their communities has been kicked off with the 2012 ‘Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards'.

The programme invites individual and group applications from students in classes VI-XII engaged in a volunteer community service activity that occurred during the 12 months prior to the application period, said Ms Sujata Dutta, Senior Vice-President, Head-Marketing and Affinity Sales, DLF Pramerica.

The top two individual winners would receive medallions, cash prize and return trip to Washington DC in May 2012. “We launched this award last year and we received over 500 applications, this year we want to widen our reach. We are, therefore, physically reaching out to schools in various cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh,” she said.

The award programme organised by DLF Pramerica Life Insurance is an extension of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards which is one of the largest youth recognition programme in the US based exclusively on volunteer service.
