UK Trade and Investment Minister, Mr Stephen Green will arrive in India this week on a two day visit to enhance trade relations between the two countries.

Mr Green would meet the Union Commerce and Industries Minister, Mr Anand Sharma, Petroleum Minister, Mr Jaipal Reddy and Reserve Bank Governor, Mr Subbarao at Delhi and Mumbai, respectively. In Chennai he would meet senior Indian businessmen and investors from UK that are based in Tamil Nadu, a statement issued from the UK Embassy here said.

Mr Green’s visit aims to identify further opportunities for UK and Indian businesses to work together and to realise India’s goals for economic growth in areas like infrastructure development, it said.

In Chennai, Mr Green would also visit IT major Tata Consultancy Services office and the Apollo Hospitals group as also British companies who have set up base here.

“We are delighted that Lord Green is visiting Chennai soon after taking up his appointment as Trade and Investment Minister in January 2011. His visit follows the recent visit of the British Minister for Universities and Science,” British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Mike Nithavrianakis said.

Mr Green assumed office as UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment in January 2011. He was also Chairman of the British Bankers’ Association and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Business Council for Britain, the statement added.
