Tata Capital, the investment arm of the Indian conglomerate, has announced the final closing of its private equity fund - Tata Opportunities Fund - following subscriptions from marquee global investors.

With this, the Tata Opportunities Fund has access to around $600 million, making it one of the largest debut private equity funds targeted at India.

The fund involves Limited Partners that are global institutional investors from North America, Asia and West Asia , and span sovereign investors, financial institutions, global corporate and high net-worth families.

The fund is sector and stage agnostic and provides long-term investors the ability to participate in Indian private equity investment opportunities. This could be either through a mix of growth and buy-out strategies, from both within the Tata group and also outside it.

The company said the fund is scalable materially beyond $600 million, since the partners can undertake co-investments directly into portfolio companies alongside the fund.
