Textile producers, power loom owners, yarn traders, textile retail and wholesale dealers and textile shops will remain closed for two days from February 14 here protesting the increase in yarn prices.
The decision was taken at a meeting of textile-oriented traders and producers here on Friday attended by more than 500 traders and power loom owners.
Mr C.B. Gunsekaran, President, Erode Cloth Merchants Association, said the prices of yarn had increased four times within a year.
The association appealed to the central and state governments to take immediate steps to reduce the prices of yarn.
