A high level trade delegation from 15 skill sector councils is now on a visit to Canada to enrich the Indian expertise on the skills front.

Tirupur Exporters’ Association President A Sakthivel, a member of this delegation and representing the Apparel, Made Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) said as Chairman of AMHSSC, he would be inking two agreements during this visit.

The MoU with Fanshawe College at Ottawa in Canada is expected to be inked in the forenoon of April 15 in the presence of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper.

Later in the day, the AMHSSC Chairman has proposed to ink an agreement with Canada India Education Council at Toronto.

The proposed agreements aim to strengthen the cooperation in the field of training of trainers and also boost the Indian expertise in apparel sector, he said.

Post this agreement, there will be more trainers available in the skill sector coupled with improvement in the quality of trainings and ultimately, this would have a positive impact on the number and quality of manpower being skilled and provided to the Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing sectors, he said.
