Aegis, the back-office outfit of the $39-billion Essar Group, will create 150 new jobs in the US state of Missouri for servicing clients in the healthcare sector.

The company has partnered with the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) of Southwest Missouri, which will help in identifying the right candidates and provide job training and transportation support.

The WIB is a regional workforce intermediary that oversees employment and training programmes.

The new jobs will be added to a call centre in Joplin after an existing client — a healthcare provider — added a new line of business with Aegis. “We have expanded our engagements with existing clients across healthcare, which has resulted in this additional hiring,” Sandip Sen, Aegis’ Global Chief Executive Officer, said.

A company spokesperson said that the new recruits would predominantly be a part of voice-based in-bound and outbound teams.

The Joplin centre currently employs about 480.

Aegis, which has a global headcount of 55,000, is set to add 4,500 new employees in its international centres, Sen had said in an earlier interaction.
