Telecom major Bharti Airtel today launched its 3G services in Durgapur, the industrial township located 170 km from Kolkata. This is the company's first launch in an area under the West Bengal circle.
Airtel has 3G licences in 13 of the 22 telecom circles that include Delhi, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, UP (West), Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, North East and Jammu and Kashmir. The company currently has a subscriber base of 215 million people and has services in 19 countries across Asia and Africa. It also provides broadband Internet services, fixed line and DTH services.
