Sahil Gilani, grandson of HZ Gilani, the founder of Gits Food Products, is going to unveil the company’s ready-to-eat food items in an e-commerce avatar.

“With the government announcing 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in e-commerce, online sales could become a big sales channel for us. International grocery chains are looking to exploit this avenue,” said Gilani.

Referring to the budget announcements that manufacturing units would be allowed to sell their products through retail, including e-commerce platforms, without any additional approval, Gilani said, “At present, Gits is available across key online food and grocery stores.”

“The biggest challenge we face with e-commerce are the unviable courier costs. The courier costs could be up to a tune of 40 per cent of the product price for certain location deliveries. We are exploring different delivery avenues,” Gilani said.
