Amid concerns over radiation threat in tsunami-hit Japan, HCL Technologies said on Wednesday that its senior officials would travel to Japan “over the next few days”, to extend on-ground support to employees.
“This delegation will be holding an open house for all employees at relevant locations in Japan,” an HCL statement said.
The company further said it is working with its Japan-based customers to ensure that employees have access to various options, including working from alternate sites such as Osaka, China, Singapore or India (on Japan timings) or working from home. Other options include leave in consultation with manager or employees may even also choose to send their families to an alternate location.
“The company continues to keep a close watch on the situation and is in touch with all diplomatic and related agencies to ensure the safety and security of its employees in Japan,” it said.
The travel desk is geared to assist with all these arrangements, if required, it said.
“Since outbound communication is erratic in such times, HCL has ensured that hotlines are set up for employee assistance….It has also created a section on the company Web site to enable both customers and employees to remain apprised of the latest situation,” the statement added.
