HP has set up a common data centre in Bangalore for its customers.
A data centre is a central location that houses and maintains computers, servers, storage and networking systems.
The data centre is being shared by enterprise customers that have shifted some of their operations onto the cloud, said Mr Santanu Ghose, Country Head, Converge Infrastructure Solutions.
The “pay-per-use” cloud service from the new data centre was launched in May. Customers include large enterprises from the country such as banks and manufacturing companies, said Mr Ghose, on the sidelines of a press conference to announce its tie-up with Chennai-based Take Solutions.
HP already has a data centre in Bangalore for its internal needs.
Ties up with Take solutions
HP has partnered with Take Solutions to launch ‘take10’ – a cloud computing solution for enterprises in India. take10 is a licence-free subscription-based model targeted at SMEs and large enterprises in India and West Asia.
take10 has been built on HP’s CloudSystem Matrix platform. The partnership also allows Take Solutions to access HP’s network of channel partners, sales and marketing support.
Ms Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director, HP India, said: “Cloud computing is expected to be a $154-billion market worldwide by 2013. HP’s new business focus globally will be around big data, security and cloud.”
