ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Name and Numbers), which ensures uniqueness of Web addresses, will hold its international conference in Hyderabad in April 2013.
Representatives from ICANN have met Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology, to discuss the conference.
ICANN is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for managing Domain Name System (DNS) to protect uniqueness of Web addresses. Besides overseeing distribution of unique IP (Internet Protocol) addresses and domain names, the organisation works to ensure each domain name is mapped to the correct IP address. “The meet is usually held for seven days where top executives of Internet companies participate to discuss issues that dogged the Internet management space,” the Minister told presspersons after his meeting with ICANN representatives.
About 1,200 delegates would attend the conference.
