The Cellular Mobile Services of Tamil Nadu circle has been given the ISO 9001:2008 certificate.
Tamil Nadu is the second circle in the Southern Region to get the certification in recognition of the quality of its mobile service, grievance redressal mechanism and minimal breakdown of mobile towers, a release said today.
The Chief General Manager of the Circle, Mr Mohammed Ashraf Khan, received the certificate from the Group Director of the Electronics Test and Development Centre, Mr P. Mathialagan.
BSNL has 1,500 mobile towers with 65 lakh working mobile connections. The certification process includes training for the staff, bringing about behavioural changes in them, formation of special teams, and provision of vehicles.
It is proposed to install 500 more towers before March 2011, taking the number of connections to ten lakh, the release said.
