Intelligroup, which was recently acquired by NTT DATA of Japan, has tied up with SAP and a Latin American company for an agri-specific application.

“We are selling a custom-made SAP solution called Livestock Express for the poultry industry. We see a big opportunity in the core agriculture sector. A Latin American firm has developed a solution and we have entered into an agreement with that firm to offer the solution to agriculture companies in India,” Mr Alok Pant, Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Global Alliances), Intelligroup, told Business Line .

He said the company would roll out the product May-June, 2011. “The product will factor in all aspects, such as how you grow and how you harvest,” he said.

Cloud-based solutions

Mr Alok said the company was in the process of re-architecting its solutions keeping in view the demand for cloud-based solutions. “Marriage of cloud with mobility is high on our agenda. A combination of these two is a potent force,” he said.

He said the strengths of NTT DATA in data centres would help Intelligroup host hybrid cloud (part private, part public) solutions for customers. Quoting surveys, he said 60 per cent of small and medium businesses were looking for some cloud service. While the new companies could straight away take to cloud, the old companies that invested in computing infrastructure could move part of their needs to the cloud.

Piggybacking on NTT DATA's hosting abilities, Intelligroup would offer cloud backup services to its clients in India and elsewhere.

“Customers are also asking for solutions that could help them scale up their computing abilities quickly. Unlike in the old model that would take a long time to get permission from CFOs, the cloud allows you to increase your computing abilities in a few seconds to take care of specific needs,” Mr Alok said.
