IT major Microsoft has announced availability of Windows Server 2012, which it claims is at the heart of its Cloud OS (operating system), for customers in India.

“It enables apps to move across different layers of the cloud, say, public, private and in the hybrid (part private, part public) environment ,” Srikanth Karnakota, Director Server and Cloud Business, Microsoft, has said.

This would facilitate personal devices to quickly integrate with the office environment.

“As devices are proliferating, companies can allow their employees to latch on to the network without having to worry about the security. For now, it is being offered on Windows 8 using an application called Remote FX. We are going to enable this facility on Android platform too,” he said.

The IT giant is going on a 40-city road show to connect with the channel partners and with the prospective customers for the Windows Server 2012.

“For every dollar we make, our partners in the ecosystem make $34,”

Modern platform

Designed as a modern platform for world’s applications, Windows Server 2012 would significantly change the IT economics of storage for high availability and continuous services.

“It further empowers IT to provide users with flexible access to data and applications anywhere on any device with simplified management, security and control,” he said.

“Microsoft’s unique legacy in the most widely used operating systems, applications and cloud services positions us to deliver the Cloud OS, based on Windows Server and Windows Azure, helping customers achieve a datacentre without boundaries,” he said.
