The Ministry of Corporate Affairs on Monday clarified that Competition Commission of India (CCI) has not imposed any penalty on Google.
The Ministry in a statement responded to media reports that said that the Delhi High Court on October 15 had stayed an order of the CCI imposing a penalty of ₹1 crore on US-based Google for allegedly failing to provide information in a probe into its alleged unfair trade practices in India.
The statement from the Ministry added the writ petition was filed by Google with respect to the case in which CCI has not imposed any penalty and hence, the question of stay does not arise.
Focal point“Issue of confidentiality was the focal point in the present Writ Petition where, order was passed by the Court after hearing the Counsels of the parties,” it said.
