A new update is available for Mac’s newest operating system, OS X Mavericks: Version 10.9.1.
Most of the changes are in the details. It should allow Gmail accounts to synchronise better with the system, reports Apple. It also includes a new version of the Safari browser, 7.0.1.
The update closes some security gaps, including ones that allowed hackers to grab information entered into forms or to smuggle malware onto other computers.
Users should absolutely install the update, advises Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). That also applies to users with an older version of OS X. They can update to Safari version 6.1.1, which also plugs the security gaps.
The updates can be accessed at the app store or at the Software Update part of the Apple menu.
