Until now Nike’s fitness armbands were only compatible with iPhones. But the company has come out with an Android app for its FuelBand line.
The fact that Nike uses Bluetooth Low Energy for networking might explain why the FuelBand, available since 2012, is only now getting an Android app: Only smartphones that use versions 4.0 or higher of Bluetooth can use the low energy option.
iPhones have come with 4.0 since the 4S came out at the end of summer 2012. However, Androids have only supported that system since the advent of version 4.3, in the summer of 2013.
