Community conversation platform Scrollback is looking at expanding its user base to non-technology users as well.

“We have grown to over 700 active communities across South East Asia, America and Europe since September last, when the beta went live,” Gaurav Srivastava, Co-Founder of Scrollback, told BusinessLine in an email response from Singapore.

“The funding will help us take Scrollback to a broader audience and reach 5,000-plus communities by next year. We are already working on creating communities such as Bangalore Parenting and New Mom,” he added.

Seed funding Based in Bengaluru and Singapore, the chat platform for online communities has raised $400,000 in seed funding from a clutch of investors led by Jungle Ventures.

The funding round was supported by Singapore’s National Research Foundation under its Technology Incubation Scheme, Crystal Horse Investments, Singapore Angel Network and Roland Turner.

Through Scrollback’s apps on the web and Android, users can create chat rooms on their topics of interest.

“We aim to become the discussion platform of choice for every online community,” Aravind Ravi-Sulekha, Co-Founder, said.

The open source platform is being used by crypto-currency (a security feature against counterfeiting) communities such as Dogecoin, activist groups, online games and municipalities to conduct open discussions.
