Content-sharing site SlideShare, acquired by LinkedIn, is hiring for various positions in India and San Francisco.

Co-founded by two Indians, SlideShare is being acquired by the world’s largest professional networking site LinkedIn for about $119 million.

SlideShare is recruiting people for as many as 23 positions and about 18 of them are in New Delhi. The company also has openings for student internships, according to its website.

However, it was not clear whether there would be any changes in hiring plans following the takeover by LinkedIn.

The company is headquartered in San Francisco and has an office in New Delhi.

SlideShare has 55 employees. This slide sharing site is estimated to have about 161 million members across the world, as per the Web site.

The trio of Rashmi Sinha, Amit Ranjan and Jon Boutelle co—founded the company in 2006. The idea of setting up SlideShare popped up after the trio realised that was no way to share online the presentations of a conference.

On the acquisition by LinkedIn, SlideShare CEO, Ms Rashmi Sinha had said the site helps professionals share presentations and connect people through content.

“What we can build with LinkedIn, the largest professional network on the Internet, is the most natural extension of this vision. I am excited about what we can build together,” she had said in a statement.

The takeover by LinkedIn is expected to be complete during the second quarter of 2012.
