Sundaram Infotech, the information technology arm of Sundaram Finance, has forayed into the infrastructure management services (IMS) sector in India targeting clients in auto, financial services, agricultural sciences and retail industries.

The company has roped in Mr G.N. Sivaramakrishna who was Vice-President, India Business, Keane India Ltd, to drive the new initiative.

Given the company's experience in managing the entire IT infrastructure of Sundaram Finance across 500 branches all over the country, Sundaram Infotech has the expertise and domain knowledge to take the IMS offering to the external market, said Mr Malli J. Sivakumar, CEO, Sundaram Infotech.

According to Mr Sivaramakrishna, the proposed investment over the next two years will be around $3 million happening with the ramp up of business. The current investment of Sundaram Finance in its data centre will support the foray to start with. Already around 85 persons are deployed in the data centre, he said.

With specific focus on data centre, the Smart IT Infra IMS offering of the company includes remote server administration and application hosting and management services as well installing, running and maintaining the entire IT Infrastructure of companies. Sundaram Infotech will also target small-sized companies that are looking to outsource the management of remote data protection, a company press release says.
