Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Technologies were the only two Indian companies in the top six information technology global service providers based on the total contract value (TCV), according to a report.

In the three major regions of Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the Asia Pacific (EMEA), both HCL and TCS were among the top six players.

Infosys, Genpact, Wipro and Cognizant had their strong presence in Asia Pacific and the Americas, according to the TPI Index released by the Information Services Group of the US.

Boosted by mega-deals, the EMEA recorded the best performance among global regions.

Fourth-quarter TCV in the region was up 12 per cent year-over-year and full-year TCV was up 27 per cent, to a record $55 billion.

For the first time, significant outsourcing activity in EMEA was not limited to the established markets of the UK, Germany and Scandinavia, with momentum seen in France, Southern Europe and the West Asia.

The report said that India provided contracts worth $2.7 billion of which 70 per cent were won by IBM, HCL, TCS and Wipro.

The US market was characterised by high contracting counts with heavy competition among many service providers. The report did not give details of the total sizes won by individual companies.
