Tata Consultancy Services said on Wednesday that the first phase of its new BPO delivery centre in Ahmedabad will be operational by December quarter.
The company plans to have a BPO delivery capacity of ,2000 at that site. The first phase will have capacity for 1000 seats, Mr Abid Ali Neemuchwala, Vice-President, Global Head BPO Services, told reporters on the sidelines of Nasscom BPO Strategy Summit. “The talent pool for financial services and also manufacturing domain is very large in Ahmedabad,” he said.
Kolkata centre
The company is also ramping up its BPO presence in Kolkata. “We already have 2,000 people there and are adding another 1,500 people. The focus is on segments like Media Publishing and Entertainment, utilities and banking and financial services,” he said.
Asked about plans for inorganic growth, Mr Neemuchwala said the company will be “selective” in acquisitions.
“We are not proactively looking out for acquisitions in the BPO space. We already have good platforms for growth. Only if get a good deal, then we will consider those.”
