VMware, the Silicon Valley-headquartered virtualisation and cloud solutions company, will focus on opportunities in the Government sector to sell its products.
“The Government is virtual ready but it has not yet taken to virtualisation and cloud solutions. We are looking at opportunity in State Data Centres. Telecom segment too is a priority area for us,” Ms Seema Ambastha, Director (Technology) of VMware Software, said.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, she said the company had doubled its India workforce to 1,200 during 2009-10. “We are going to continue the growth momentum,” she said, without indicating any numbers.
Globally, it had 9,000 employees with a turnover of $2.9 billion in 2010.
She said VMware solutions would help companies in increasing CPU utilisation and significantly reduce server provisioning time, besides bringing down hardware and maintenance costs.
