Wipro Infotech has launched a rupee-ready keyboard that is complaint with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) specifications. Users who buy this keyboard will find the rupee symbol along with the dollar symbol on the numeral ‘4' key. Users can use an associated software driver to input this symbol into any application.
Dr Sudarshan Murthy, General Manager, Applied Research, Wipro and a member of the Department of Information Technology (DIT) committee on the rupee symbol, said, "The software driver being provided by us is the outcome of six weeks of research and is intended to hasten the speed of rupee symbol adoption in India.” He also said that this research is publicly available so that other vendors can also use it.
