Aegis, the back office outfit of the $39-billion Essar Group, is set to create 1,000 new jobs in Sri Lanka. The company has set-up a new delivery centre in Colombo which will have an initial capacity of 600 seats, the company said in a press statement.
The company had ventured into Sri Lanka in 2009 by acquiring 80 per cent equity in Ismart – Timex. Aegis currently employs over 350 professionals in Sri Lanka. It is in discussions to set up more centres in tier 2 and tier 3 towns of Northern and Southern Sri Lanka, Aegis said.
