SigTuple, a healthcare tech start-up, that uses Artificial Intelligence and cloud-based data processing, is planning to take the smart screening solutions to the US.

The three-year-old start-up is the lone Indian start-up selected for Google Demo Day Asia, scheduled to be held in Shanghai next month. It has begun the process to get the crucial USFDA (Food and Drug Administration). The start-up is aiming to eliminate costly equipment and manpower required to handle medical tests done at the laboratories.

A digital image of the slide with information of the samples will be sent to the cloud where it is analysed. “You need different devices to examine blood, urine and semen. Our machine can handle several examinations, reducing capital expenditure,” Rohit Kumar Pandey, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SigTuple, told BusinessLine .

In the long run, it wants to add more disease profiles to the list. Citing the example of a mobile phone which acts as a base for several apps to offer different services, he said the start-up visualises to offer more complex examinations. “We’re planning to go for next round of funding in the next 6-8 months,” he said after Google announcing the 10 short-listed start-ups selected for the Demo Day Asia.

It raised $25.4 million in three rounds. “We are planning to expand in India before addressing the markets abroad. In the short-term, we are targeting for 50 live deployments,” he said.

The start-up, with 120 employees, has already made seven deployments in various diagnostic laboratories. “After getting a critical number of deployments, we can provide results in just 30 minutes as against a few hours in the traditional diagnostic methods,” he added.
