Aircel has abolished roaming charges and slashed outgoing call rates to one paise per second for subscribers travelling across the five states in the south.
The rates have been slashed under an offering -- ‘Five States, One Rate’ – for both its pre- and post-paid customers and does not require a separate recharge or pack activation. It will be activated by default, effective Thursday, the company said in a statement.
“These five witness a huge amount of business and leisure travelling and given the porous borders between these states, we did not want our customers to restrict themselves in any manner while using our services,” said Anupam Vasudev, Chief Marketing Officer at Aircel.
The offering will enable Aircel users travelling across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to accept incoming calls without any roaming charges.
The company would charge outgoing calls at one paise per second for both local and STD calls (different rates depending on the user’s package), while SMS and pocket internet packs remain unchanged.
