Bharti Airtel, the country’s largest telecommunications services provider, has launched new International Roaming (IR) packs that offer free India calling from most popular destinations. The packs also provide free incoming calls, free texts to India and data benefits.

Charges for calls to India and local in-country calls have been reduced to Rs 3 per minute across popular destinations.

“The number of Indians travelling overseas for leisure and business is growing rapidly and our new IR packs ensure that customers get no bill shocks and have the convenience of always keeping their phones switched on wherever they are,” said Ajai Puri, Director–Operations (India & South Asia) at Bharti Airtel.

The company also said post the exhaustion of pack data benefits, international roaming data will now be charged at Rs 3 per MB, a reduction of 99 per cent from Rs 650 per MB, so that customers can enjoy uninterrupted data usage without having to worry about bill charges.

Customers can continue accessing their e-mails, social media and websites on the go without using public WiFi or free access.

With the new IR packs, customers will have the convenience of carrying their India mobile number to foreign shores. The packs are available to both post- and pre-paid customers.

The IR packs come with a validity of one day and 30 days, with the one-day pack of about $10 designed for short and quick international trips.

The 30-day pack, of about $75, offers seamless connectivity during single country business trips and vacations of up to a month.

Airtel is also planning to launch a $45 medium duration pack with 10 days validity by the middle of October.
