A healthcare technology start-up has built a Blockchain-based mobile app HealthPro that can quicken the process of accessing insurance support and loans for patients, if needed.

The five-year-old start-up, which has developed solutions for hospitals to digitise health records, released the Android version of the HealthPro recently. This will be followed by an iOS version shortly, according to Kare4u Healthcare Solutions Chief Executive Officer Prabin Bardhan.

‘Expanding reach’

The firm has tied up with Future Generali to offer insurance support to users. “We are in talks with seven more insurance companies to form a consortium of healthcare insurance provider. The underlying Blockchain technology allows real-time processing of queries, making the life easy for patients,” he told BusinessLine .

The firm is in talks with venture capital funds based in Singapore and the US to raise $3 million in two tranches in the next 18 months. “We will use the funds to expand the platform and reach. We already have tied up with 350 hospitals in 10 top cities in five States.

The app was launched in the presence of Estonian Ambassador Riho Kruuv and Kare4U Chairman Kasu Prasad Reddy.

Besides usual services like storing health records and fixing doctor appointments, the app provides a collaborative platform for hospitals, doctors, diagnostic centres, pharmacies, insurance companies and patients. It allows inter-operability of data, enabling stakeholders to automatically act on the authentication requests.
