Three alumni of Indian School of Business and IIM, Ahmedabad have joined hands to connect thousands of brick-and-mortar businesses with prospective customers. They have started a mobile app (backed by phone lines too) called Whizzle Mobile App to connect saloons, health clinics, groceries and a variety of other service providers in Hyderabad.

Launched in a few pockets of the city — especially in IT-hub areas, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills — the company is now trying to expand the service to other parts of the twin cities, before expanding to Bengaluru, Delhi and other cities in the next few months.

Chat service

Presently available on the Android platform, the app offers a ‘chat’ tool that allows users to directly connect with vendors that are enlisted on the firm’s database.

“We guarantee a response in less than 60 seconds. We own the entire order life cycle from receiving orders to home delivery of the goods. There is no minimum order restriction,” Hari Chava, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Whizzle, said.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the ISB alumnus said the firm had enrolled over 15,000 businesses in Hyderabad, covering a wide range of services and products.

The start-up promises delivery of goods within 60 minutes of ordering with support for cash-on-delivery service. Users who are not on Android phones can access the service over phone.

“Whizzle is all geared up to bring mobile commerce to millions of mobile only internet users through its simple to use messaging technology,” ISB alumnus Navin Kasa, who is the Strategy Head of the firm, said.

Upload profile

Siddhartha Kongara, an IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus and Technology Head of the start-up, says businesses can upload offers on their profiles and attract more customers and broadcast the latest updates or offers to all their users with just one click.
