Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has introduced a rural broadband scheme at zero rental in select telephone exchange areas of Kozhikode Telecom District.
The scheme will be available for applicants having a land phone connection in Chooralmala, Mandad, Vakeri, Periya, Tirunelli and Valad (all in Wayanad district) and Kakkayam, Kayanna and Vilangad (in Kozhikode district), according to a statement from BSNL.
The zero-rental scheme will be available only for six months and subsequently the plan can be migrated to any rural plan as per the requirement of the customer. The provision will be on first-come-first-served basis.
In addition to the waiver of monthly rental, the subscribers will get subsidy on the cost of modem under Universal Service Obligation (USO) scheme, says the BSNL statement.
