CDK Global, a US-based technology company, has reportedly laid off about 180 employees.

“People are being thrown out without any notice or compensation, with their lives in disarray,” a leader of the Forum of IT Professionals (forIT), has said.

The Forum has called upon the affected employees of the Nasdaq-listed company “not to bow down to the pressures and illegal methods being followed by the management.”

Company reaction

The company has evaded a direct reply to a question on the layoffs.

“As we align ourselves with our growth strategy, we would need to review our organizational structures and roles from time to time, as would any business,” Arvind Chaturvedi, Managing Director, CDK Global (India), has said.

“In the event that this results in role redundancies, CDK remains committed to deal with its employees in a professional and empathetic manner, providing the necessary financial and outplacement support where appropriate. These decisions are always made through consultation and mutual agreement,” he said.

“We continue to recruit and the business is looking to add another 150 people in this quarter,” he said.

“CDK Global needs to understand that it is operating in India and they are bound by the law of the land. The whole of IT community will stand up against any injustice,” the Forum has said.
