CeBIT, the world’s leading ICT trade fair, brought to India for the first time by Hannover Milano Fairs last November, generated €90,000 (₹63 lakh) in total transaction value per visitor.

The three-day fair attracted 13,000 industry experts and visitors from around the world, of which 9,311 were qualified buyers.

‘Satisfying outcome’

“Although we expected the total transactional value per visitor (TTV) at CeBIT India to exceed €1,06,000, which was the TTV per visitor recorded at CeBIT Hannover in March 2013, we are satisfied as this is the first time that the event was conducted in India in partnership with the Karnataka government,” Mehul Lanvers-Shah, MD, Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt Ltd, the company that organises CeBIT, told BusinessLine .

Turkey, Australia, Germany and Brazil are the other worldwide locations where CeBIT is held every year.

Key sectors

Shah said that of the key industry sectors that drove ICT procurement at the fair, BFSI topped, followed by telecom, automotive, infrastructure, retail and State governments of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

While the key areas of investment were cloud offerings, SaaS products and IT infrastructure, the bulk of the buyers were CIOs, VPs and Directors – IT procurement, who felt the fair lacked sufficient representation of IT security companies, data centre services providers, networking infrastructure and IoT firms.

Next fair in October

The theme at CeBIT India 2015, scheduled to be held from October 29 to 31 in Bengaluru, will focus on digital economy, where discussions will revolve around what to digitise first; improving healthcare with wearable devices and leveraging big data, cloud to drive better patient outcomes; how traditional players in banking, retail, travel and hospitality and other sectors are embracing digital to take on non-traditional players; etc.
