Cisco, the multinational network solutions firm, will take up a Digital Zone smart city project, which includes establishment of a City Digital Platform (CDP) in Hyderabad. The 2.2-km zone in the Hi-Tec City will see deployment of smart Wi-Fi, smart parking, smart lighting and traffic analytics at key junctions.
The firm will work with local ecosystem partners to deploy the service. This will result in a scalable model that the Telangana government wants to replicate in other parts of the State. Cisco has signed an agreement on Thursday in this regard.
IoT hub Under the memorandum of understanding, Cisco will set up an Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation Hub and a Living Lab at the technology start-up incubator T-Hub.
The IoT centre will provide a platform for start-ups, accelerators, developers, researchers and the venture community to build products.
“Cisco will set up virtual video-based classrooms in 10 remote schools in Karimnagar district for inter-school learning.
“The solution will connect the district school to remote schools for sharing of faculty,” said Dinesh Malkani, President of Cisco (India and SAARC).
The company will also digitise the historic Qutub Shahi Tombs in the city, providing Wi-Fi, smart parking, lighting and surveillance at the monument.
